A memorial dedicated to martyrs, constructed in Kaithal, Haryana, bears the names of soldiers from 19 districts. This is the only such memorial in the state, where the names of martyred soldiers from the wars of 1962, 1965-1971, 1999, and the Kashmir conflict have been inscribed on plaques. A life tree has also been planted at this memorial, and its beauty is enhanced by the lights that illuminate it at night.
The construction of this memorial was completed in the year 2013, and its inauguration took place at the end of that year. Additionally, the statue of the first Baba Banda Singh Bahadur of the state was installed here.
The memorial commemorates the martyrs from the India-China War of 1962, the India-Pakistan Wars of 1965-1971, the Kargil War of 1999, and the conflict of 1947-48 in Kashmir. Alongside these, there are 19 commemorative plaques, each bearing the names, ranks, regiments, and villages of the martyrs. The names of those who sacrificed their lives for the nation in Operation Blue Star and Operation Rakshak are also inscribed on the memorial.
Names of 10 Freedom Fighters from Kaithal
On the 18th plaque of the memorial, the names of 20 freedom fighters from Kaithal who participated in the Quit India Movement are listed. Among them, the names of individuals like Shri Brij Lal, Narata Ram Bhalla, and Kaka Ram are mentioned.
